  • Schools asked to share Broadband Connectivity, Internet Speed Test surveys with families

The Broadband Expansion and Accessibility of Mississippi (BEAM) is asking schools to share two important surveys with families. Both surveys can be found on the BEAM Homepage: Welcome to the Mississippi Broadband Office! (broadbandms.com).

    1. Internet Speed Test: The “Test your Internet” survey will help BEAM develop accurate maps of internet availability to identify where help is needed most.
    2. Broadband Connectivity Survey: This brief survey asks families about their internet connection to help BEAM understand barriers to connecting families.

The results of these surveys will help BEAM target state and federal resources to ensure that all families in Mississippi have access to a reliable internet connection.

In addition, we encourage you to learn more about the FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program that provides internet and laptop discounts to eligible recipients.

  • Change in TCSD Over-the-Counter Medicine Policy

The Mississippi Department of Education has recently informed schools of a monumental shift in how school nurses are to handle the administration of over-the-counter drugs such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen, and Benadryl. Beginning Monday, October 31, 2022, if you wish for a Tishomingo County School District school nurse to be allowed to give your child an over-the-counter medication, you must have your child’s primary medical provider execute a standing order for your child.

Until the District is in possession of this standing order, our school nurses will not be allowed to give your child any such medication without a parent physically present. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We at TCSD want to respond as quickly as possible so that we can continue to provide the best care for your children.

Provide the form below to your doctor and return to your school nurse:
